Our commitment to sustainability
In 2023, Earth Day turns 53, having first been celebrated in 1970, at the suggestion of U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, who imagined how powerful it would be to work to promote common awareness about the problems that were causing our planet is in danger. The United Nations Organization decided to set this date in 2009 as the annual event to pay tribute to our common home, our planet.
As of today, we are aware that acting for their protection and care is the responsibility of citizens, companies and institutions, as the only way to achieve common objectives.
Earth Day is every day, which is why at Grupo Afandecor we have reinforced our commitment to reduce the environmental impact generated to the greatest extent possible. When we decide to invest in our planet, we invest in each and every one of us. We invest in a sustainable future in which our well-being is not conditioned by the impact of global warming and the consequences of climate change on our lives.
What have we done until now?
- We have opted for the
use and generation of renewable energy from our factory, thanks to the installation of photovoltaic self-consumption. Thus, each of the windows created in our factory is done in a more sustainable way.
- We increase the
promotion and sale of eco range products. The highest percentages of energy consumption generated throughout the useful life of a window are attributed to its stage of use (between 42% and 97%), and are derived from the energy losses generated through the window. . The energy consumption generated in the stages of extraction and production of materials for manufacturing varies depending on the resources used, being between 4% and 52%. As manufacturers and installers of windows, we have the support and endorsement of brands such as Kommerling and Cortizo, integrating a holistic conception of our role in the energy transition throughout our production cycle.
- We improved our rate of
recycling waste generated in our production chain, also giving a second life to those reusable waste for new uses.
- We implement
energy saving and efficiency measures in our factory, office and stores by using highly insulated and energy-conserving windows.
- We develop our business line
Afandecor Energy, in which we are committed to the promotion of renewable energies for residential and industrial use.
- We bet on
sustainable mobility, reducing the use of diesel combustion vehicles and progressively betting on the acquisition of hybrid vehicles.
- Digitization of production processes and reducing the use of paper in our offices, making it easier for the client to access their documentation digitally and internally betting on the digitalization of internal processes.
